M&M

On Monday I drove to Modesto, CA (about 2 hours East) to visit my friend Morgan and her little girl Madeline. You may remember Morgan from a previous post, but to fill in in case you don't she is a good friend from my MD days. She's reaching the end of her 3rd trimester and we decided to squeeze in one last "girls" day before her son makes his grand appearance.

Our time together started off with me making lots of silly voices and noises in hopes to regain Miss Madeline's friendship. Once this was accomplished we headed off to town for lunch at an authentic Modesto staple, Harvest Moon---really yummy! We both got their Neil's salad as a wrap and shared some sweet potato fried...to die for! Madeline did a great job eating out with the girls :) Our next stop was to the Almond store, the Blue Diamond one to be specific. You would not believe how much cheaper they are here but I guess it makes sense since we're in Almond county. Just last week someone explained to me that Californian's refer to them as "A-monds" because when they fall to the ground the "L" falls out. I'm still going to say aLmond.

We headed back to Morgan's, put Madeline down for her afternoon nap, and simultaneously made my mom's famous Marbelous Peanut Butter Bars while watching A Lot Like Love (mid 2000's with Ashton Kutcher & Amanda Peet.) It was the perfect mindless enjoyment sweetened by taste testing our dessert. Before we knew it, it was dinner time and Morgan had made delicious pork & black been wraps. I know this doesn't sound super exciting, but this day was just what we both needed. I loved playing with her 2 1/2 year old daughter, and reading her books, and make silly noises. I loved catching up on our families. I loved sitting on the couch watching the Voice together. I even loved sleeping on her couch because we decided there was no reason for me to drive home so late in the rain. I'm so thankful for the friends God has strategically placed far away from home for me.
